Man's Best Friend

This is my first addition to the family blog. Unfortunately, it is posted with great sadness. I took Jager to the vet today. The vet kept him for the day and ran blood tests that came back OK. He told me that he was going to run chest X-rays. When the results came back, he had very bad news. Jager has lung cancer and there is nothing that can be done for him. We had a very sad evening and tomorrow I have to go to the vets office and say goodbye to my friend. It is truly unfair that he has to go so soon! This Saturday would have only been his eighth birthday. It seems as if it was yesterday that He was my roommate who cried from the cardboard box in the kitchen. I can not get my mind around how it is going to feel to come home to a dogless house day after day.
It is truly amazing how much a part of your life a dog can become. When they coined the phrase man's best friend, they certainly hit the nail on the head. Jager was always happily waiting for my arrival no matter how tough of a day I had. He always greeted me the same. It will be tough to forget how good he has been with the kids. Going through pictures, there are pictures of Jager resting his head on Natalie's car carrier as well as Karli's and Cameron's too. I know that he perched his head to peek in on Emily too. I have not even started to think what Karli's reaction will be. I hope that she will remember him when she is older. In the last few months, Jager took a liking to sleeping in Karli's bed instead of ours. I would like to believe that it was to protect her, but I know better. When we had a bird in our heat ducts, Jager would have crawled into my pillowcase if he could. He was afraid of all of the bumps in the night.

I know that this is especially tough for Laura too. Jager was her first dog. It is not hard to tell from the pictures how much they loved each other. Jager always seemed to fall asleep with his head rested on Laura or at her feet.

It is a very tough thing to say...

GOOD BYE FRIEND

Poor Jager

I think Chris is going to take Jager to the vet today. He was acting normal at my moms house on Sunday and then I went to let him in from outside and he was laying still in the grass, breathing hard, and foaming at the mouth. Very strange, he wouldn't move for the words walk, treat, eat...So I knew something wasn't right. Chris came and took him home. He perked up later that evening, ate his food, was going to the bathroom etc.....So we thought he was OK. Well last night at 2:00 am, I heard him breathing funny, hard labored breathing, and dry heaving. He tried to go to the bathroom and decided to lay in the grass instead. So we will keep you posted.

Game night

Once a month about 20 of our neighbors get together for game night. We do this so that we all stay in tough during the winter months when we aren't all outside with the kids. Oh, and Game night is kid free! Well, we hosted game night. The host provides appetizers and everyone brings their drink of choice. We played Taboo, Catch Phrase, LCR (a dice game), and some name games. A good time was had by all and game night ended after 4:00 am! Sunday was recovery day!

Well check appointments

Today we went to the Dr. for Cameron's 9 month and Karli's 3 year appointment. No shots today! Which means no tears! Karli is 50% (average) for height and weight, Cameron is in the 50% for height and weight, but the 95% (over average) for his head circumference. He must get that from his dad! Everything looks good!
Tonight we are going to Avery's Birthday party at Pump it up! This should be fun!

Updates

Sunday we went ice skating again. By we I mean Chris and Karli. Chris decided to sharpen Karli's skates and she couldn't even stand in them. So the last 5 minutes of skating she finally skated with out holding on to dad's hands. We'll keep trying, she seems to enjoy it. Greg, Tracy, Natalie, and Sam joined us as well.

Monday we went to dance class in the morning because we have Avery's birthday party on Thursday (our regular scheduled class). Karli looked so cute in her new dance outfit!

We have been teased with springlike weather in January! I like it though!!!!

Water Boy

Karli was taking her bath the other evening and Cameron was so upset that he wasn't in the tub (bath time is his favorite thing in the world). Eventually he got his way after throwing an all out fit and almost diving in himself. As you can see from the picture he turned into a happy boy. Of course he cried when it was time to get out too!

New Years Eve

Yesterday we took Karli ice skating for the first time. For the first hour she held daddy's hand and the second hour she was pushing his hand away and yes skating all by herself (more like walking on the ice). Not bad for the first time out! She said she had fun and would definitely go again! For more picks click on this link http://flickr.com/photos/12191314@N06/

We went out to dinner, rented a movie, and celebrated the New Year at home! We hope everyone had a great New Year!
