Painting

Today while I was at my cousin's wedding shower, Chris decided it would be a good time to stain the swing set. Before I left, I dressed the kids in clothes that I did not care if they got ruined. Of course the both were covered in paint! Lets just say when I got home Chris was frustrated and the kids were a mess. I think Cameron did a great job painting the grass and Karli had paint in her hair, that may never come out. Red highlights look good I guess. The swing set is cemented in the ground and hopefully will stay put!

Better late than never

Memorial Day

We went to the Sterling Heights Memorial Day Parade again this year. We met up with Julie and Rich and their family. The weather was great so we decided to take Cabo this year. He was pretty nervous around all of the people and loud noises such as the sirens, bands, etc. He has to get used to it though. Kate slept through the whole parade, and of course the kids love all the candy that they are too young to eat. You can never have too many tootsie rolls :)

1 year of school under her belt

Karli's last day of Nursery school was this past Tuesday. Unfortunately I was unable to be there, but Grandma Carmen went in my place. Mrs. Sharon really loves what she does and it shows! She made a scrapbook for all of the kids, filled with pictures through out the year. The scrapbook highlighted Karli's birthday, Halloween, the teddy bear parade, various pictures of what she may be when she grows up, and a class photo! It's also amazing to see how much Karli has changed since the beginning of the school year. Mrs. Sharon also sent a workbook packet home for the kids to keep them busy this summer and Karli had it finished the first day! This child is so eager to learn. She sometimes likes to do workbooks or "homework" as she calls it, instead of playing with her toys. She still is pretty certain she wants to be a teacher when she grows up. Who wouldn't want to be with a teacher like Mrs. Sharon as an example? Thanks to Kim she sent me some pictures.

Alexandra Grace

Yesterday Karli, Cameron, and I went to visit my friend Liz and her new baby girl. Alex is now 5 weeks old, boy does time fly! We took the kids to the park and had a nice time. I forgot to put sunscreen on the kids, so they are a little sun kissed today :( Karli is such a little mom. Of course she had to hold Alex. It's really nice to see how she watches and takes care of Cameron. At the park she stays with him on the jungle gyms, pushes him in the swings, etc.

Happy Birthday MOM!

AND Happy 1 year Anniversary Jay and Julie! Yesterday we went over Jay and Julie's house for dinner and to celebrate! We watched the wings game, sang happy birthday, and ate a lot of food!

Baby Kate

Saturday we met baby Kate! Karli was like a little mama. All that she wanted to do was hold her, of course with little bursts of playtime in between. She is pretty tiny and adorable!

Trouble

While I was at work on Saturday, Chris had the pleasure of finding Cameron in my makeup, playing with RED lipstick! It was on his face, tummy, legs, rug, hands, cupboards. He was having a good ole time!

Then and now

They look much happier now, don't they!

Here is a picture of Karli smelling a blooming flower on our Fragrant Viburnum bush. Luckily we haven't lost anything we planted last year!

A wonderful mother's day

Karli made me some wonderful gifts for mother's day. A card that she made at my mom's house, a plant that she made in school, and a purse that opened up and had a picture that she drew of me and the reasons that I was special to her. Who knew that "she lets me dust" would be one of the reasons I am special to her! I should give her some more chores! It was so thoughtful though. I love to hear all the reasons that she loves me even though they are all so trivial, it's what a 4 year old thinks about. I had to hold the tears back for that one!

We had a nice lunch at Carmen's house, and a nice dinner at my mom's house too.

Mom,

Mom

and to all the mom's out there!

Natalie's soccer game

Yesterday we went to Livonia to watch a game from Natalie's soccer tournament. Natalie is a great soccer player! They lost 3-2, but it was fun to watch them play! The kids had a good time eating kettle corn during the game too.

Nursery school picnic

The rain held off so we could play for a while at the picnic. I'm not sure who enjoyed it more Cameron or Karli. He wants to be a part of her class so bad! The kids made bird feeders with frosting (no peanut butter due to allergies), bird seeds, and toilet paper rolls. The birds haven't had one bite :(
We packed our sandwiches and there were plenty of treats to go around! They played in the sand, blew bubbles, and played on the playground. I can't believe her 1st school year is coming to an end. Before you know it she'll be graduating high school .

Big fat dog

Cabo has now passed Karli in weight. 38 pounds now I think. All in all he's a good puppy. I think he has lost all of those baby puppy razor sharp teeth! Hooray!

On occasion I have been letting Cameron sleep in Karli's bed. The other morning I went in to check on them and they were laying completely in the opposite direction that they fell asleep in.

Gotcha!

Last night we had some friends over with intentions of having a bonfire. With the weather turning chilly and the kids awake until 11:00 pm that didn't happen. The kids had a fun time. Karli and Evan were playing dress up. Cameron and Brayden were playing nice together with Thomas the train.

Nature Center

Yesterday we went on a field trip to the Sterling Heights Nature center. It has been so long since I have been there. I think the kids enjoyed themselves! They were able to touch a live turtle and snake. Below are pictures of the kids pretending to be sea turtles with a large shell on their backs.

This is a picture of Karli taking a nap after we got home from the nature center. Karli never takes naps! I had just put Cameron down for one and Karli was on the couch watching TV. It was really quiet all of a sudden and this is what I found. Arms up over her head just like when she was a baby!
