Monday

Toledo Zoo 7/28/08

We made our way to the Toledo Zoo on Monday. It took about an hour and 45 minutes with the detours in downtown Detroit. We didn't get lost, but we did have to travel on I-696, I-75, the Davison, the Lodge, I-94, I-275....I think there is only one express way we didn't travel (I-96). It was a nice ride and a lovely time! The zoo was very nice. The animals were active even in the heat. Our favorite part was the Gorillas and the Orangutans. I've never been that close to a gorilla before, they were literally on the other side of the glass staring at us. The only animals we didn't see were the Lions. They weren't out. The kids and grandpa were great. No whining and all 3 passed out in the car on the way home.

Sunday

Grandma has been on vacation this weekend and we have been spending a lot of time with her. Sunday we hung out at the pool most of the day. Cameron refuses to go in any type of flotation device. He just wants to swim! At one point he was skinny dipping in grandma's pool because his diaper fell off. Karli can really get around the pool! She swims for what seems like hours, I don't know how she doesn't pass out!

Saturday

Yesterday my mom, myself, Karli, and Cameron went to the Warren Summer Blast. They had a petting farm there and Karli and my mom enjoyed feeding the animals. I stood back and took pics, that really isn't my thing. We spent the rest of the afternoon at grandma's house swimming in the pool. That evening we went to Jay and Julie's for a party and had a great time. The kids stayed at grandma's....so I'm going to take advantage and go grocery shopping without them and then spend the day by grandma's pool.

One of many faces......

Karli likes to make silly faces. This was her impression of a picture that she saw of mommy making a silly face just a few days ago. Wonder where she gets it from? Not a whole lot of exciting stuff is going on around here......we have a busy weekend though. Our plans include a water park and The Toledo Zoo, I'll post pics next week. Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Cameron had his well check appointment and still has a large head 95%, 75% height, and under 50% for weight. Does this kid look that ill proportioned to you?

Ludington

From Lewiston we headed to Ludington to spend the rest of our vacation with my family. We went to the sand dunes, fished, walked on the pier to the lighthouse, shopped in town, watched the sunset on Lake Michigan, etc. Once again we lucked out with the weather, we managed to put our bathing suits on everyday to catch some rays. Karli even caught a 21" Walleye. Very hard to catch in Lake Hamlin, and she caught it on her sponge bob pole. For our last dinner we ate perch, Karli's Walleye, and the 2 Salmon Jay and Debbie caught on Lake Michigan.

Lewiston

We headed up to my in-laws cabin last Thursday. The weather was beautiful. We went into town for the Lewiston parade, played on the four wheelers, the boys put a swing set together for the kids, and did lots of relaxing in the peaceful woods.
